1. ¿Sabes tú? 27 lunes, el 6 de mayo de 2019

According to Aztec legend, a sun god named Huitzilopochtli told the Aztecs to leave their home in search of their new capital. He told them to look for an eagle eating a snake, sitting on a cactus bearing red fruit. The cactus had to be growing from a rock (it was found on an island in the middle of a lake). The Aztecs wandered for 150 years searching for such a sight and built upon it their capital city, Tenochtitlán. It is now part of present day Mexico City. The coat of arms on the Mexican flag celebrates this legend.

1. ¿Sabes tú? 25 hoy es el 6 de mayo

Getting a waiter’s attention at a restaurant in Spanish-speaking countries sometimes differs from how it is done in other cultures. For example, in Costa Rica people often made a “pfft” sound to get a server’s attention, while in Colombia; people may raise or clap their hands. Be very careful of using this sort of attention getting device—it may seem rude when done by someone outside the culture! How does this compare to the ways we obtain a server’s attention in the USA?
