The Alhambra is a palace and fortress located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. It was originally constructed as a fortress in 889 and later converted into a royal palace in 1333. It was built for the last Muslim Emirs in Spain. Today it’s one of Spain's major tourist attractions, with 2.5 million visitors yearly. That’s an average of 6,800 per day. The Alhambra exhibitits Spain’s most significant and well known Arab-Islamic architecture from the time before the “reconquista” in 1492.
